These Boots Were Made for Walkin' by Julie Dilling Julie joined TMS as co-owner in 2006.  As a child of the Air Force, Julie has lived all over the world. Before she took on art as her main career focus, Julie worked as a geologist for a Texas oil company. Her experiences of a variety of landscapes and world cultures are certainly apparent in her artwork.  While Julie is a skilled mosaic artist, she didn't start out doing mosaics.  With a background in photography, Julie began creating collages from her photographs.  She enjoyed the idea of creating her own puzzle and found mosaics to provide even more freedom to do so.

Keep Me Warm by Julie DillingJulie enjoys working with kids and, for 2 years, taught art at the prestigious Hill School in Ft. Worth.  Working organically, Julie loves to build 3-D substrates on which she can create beautiful abstract mosaics.  Her intuitive approach has brought a wonderful new perspective and personality to Tesserae.  Julie finds inspiration in everyday sites, objects, and feelings and believes that her mosaics should make her smile.  She loves the permanence of mosaics and, in turn, the permanence of the memories her mosaics create.

Julie has been serving on the Board of Trustees for Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) since April 2010, and currently chairs the Scholarship and Website Committees.
